Description

The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the 4th Nursery School of Aglatzia are organising the exhibition: “Nicosia my City - A European City” presenting 3-6 years old children’s drawings and crafts.

The Nursery School on the occasion of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of European Union, organised a special programme of activities for the school year 2011 - 2012, having as main objective to motivate the children to learn about Europe. The programme began with an introduction to their own city, its history, folk traditions and culture. A series of excursions were organised in their own city, Nicosia, a European city.

Through these excursions the children were introduced to the city’s churches, mansions, old neighborhoods, alleys, the city’s Venetian walls with their bastions and gates, the museums as well as other monuments and buildings of the capital. Last but not least the children visited and walked by the the Green Line, perceiving the meaning of a divided European city.

The objective of the programme was to inspire the children to created and express their own perception of a European Capital through drawings, crafts, poems and a range of other educational activities for Nicosia.

Their creations are exhibited in the House of Educational Programmes at The Leventis Museum of Nicosia.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday the 15th of December 2012, at 11:00 a.m.
