Description
With the aim of promoting works by Cypriot directors, the Film and Television Directors Association is organizing the Cypriot Directors Film Festival, for the 4th consecutive year, which will run from 27 to 30 September 2012 and will be under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture Mr. George Demosthenous. The Festival will present works by seven acclaimed film directors and the innovation of this year’s event is that the screenings will take place “under the stars” at the Open Air Cinema Costantia.
The Festival will give audiences the opportunity to enjoy short and long films by acclaimed film directors Paschalis Papapetrou, Michalis Georgiades, Christos Georgiou, Costas Yiallourides, Joacquim Mylona, Stelios Constantinou and Andreas Constantinides. The programme for this year’s festival includes the films “Souvlakia-Sheftalia”, “The Last Mantilaria in Cyprus”, “Corridors”, “A small crime”, “Instructions”, “Oedipus”, “11:50, “Flights”, “In Unsung Toil” and Akamas”.
The festival will be inaugurated by the Director of Cultural Services at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Mr. Pavlos Paraskevas on Thursday 27 September at 20:30 at the Costantia Open Air Cinema. Within the framework of the festival the Film and Television Directors Association will hold a seminar entitled ”Funding opportunities for Cypriot Films” on Saturday 29 September at 10:30am. Cypriot film producers Mr. Stavros Papageorgiou and Mr. Marios Piperides will give an interesting lecture informing participants which sources of funding for films are available in Cyprus and abroad.
On Sunday 30 September, on the last day of the festival, the Cyprus Directors Association will honor Cypriot Director Andreas Constantinides for his significant film project.
Co-organizer of the Festival is the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and the main sponsor is the Ministry of Education and Culture. Supporting the event is the PR and Communications Company Action Global Communications.
