Description

The formidable lyre player and innovator of tradition, the young and ancient Psarantonis feels at home in the beautiful courtyard of the Axiothea Mansion. This is why he is always eager to return to his fans and share generously with them his singular and unique approach to music and musical instruments, his passion and the amazing connection he establishes with the audience.

And those who have the sensitivity to recognise and appreciate his rare talent, are looking forward to meet him with anticipation and enthusiasm because each time Psarantonis reaches for the lyre, he weaves and embellishes his music in a different way and hence, every encounter with his art is unique and inimitable.
This year Psarantonis returns to Axiothea where the birds keep along the rhythm with their singing, to take us to a musical journey into his oeuvre, with traditional and contemporary songs (always establishing a dialogue with the tradition), as well as rebetiko compositions and demotic songs of Cyprus.
Once again he is joined by his children niki, Giorgis and Lambis Xylouris who have made their own mark as artists, as well as by the remarkable lute player nektarios Kontoyiannis.

Antonis Xylouris – Psarantonis: Cretan lyre, vocals
Niki Xylouri: pitcher, drum, vocals
Giorgis Xylouris: lute
Lambis Xylouris: oud
Nektarios Kontoyiannis: lute
