Description
Odyssey formed in Brighton, United Kingdom during late 1969. In 1970 they moved to Bristol where they began exploring different music idioms. When later they moved to Cardiff in South Wales where they performed at the largest club/casino in the country, they started getting into East and West coast American rock music. They started focusing on vocal harmonies and combining this element with rock music was something that few bands attempted during those days.
They later got the attention of PYE Records who offered them a contract and released one of their singles. This cought the attention of EMI with whom they later signed. They recorded 5 songs at EMI's Abbey Road Studios, out of the 12 they needed to complete their debut album, before they disbanded.
Now, decades later, relocated in Cyprus, they return as a more acoustic outfit. Their repertoire is focused on songs from the 60s and 70s and are based on three part vocal harmonies. They mostly perform songs by Crosby, Stills and Nash, as well as America, the Everly Brothers and the Eagles.
The band is:
George Eftichiou : vocals, guitar, bass
Stathis Lazarides: vocals, guitar
Philippos De Castan: vocals, guitar
