Description

The Centre for Contemporary Art Diatopos presents the solo exhibition of the artist Marianna Constanti titled «Still life series- photographic reminiscence».

Marianna Constanti directs modern utilitarian objects, fruits, flower bouquets and loot hunting, giving to them, through a masterful handling of light, that same soulful soothing atmosphere one finds in Velasquez, Sanchez, Zurbaran, Melendez, Caravaggio, Linard, Chardin, Francken, van Dyck and Weenix.

Marianna Constanti was born in Paphos in 1977. She holds an M.F.A. degree in Fine Arts (photography) from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London and a B.A. in Fine Arts from Middlesex University, London.

Solo exhibitions: Catharsis/Turkish Baths, co-curated with Valerie Brennan in Paphos in 2002; “jelly in a bowl”, Pantheon Gallery in Nicosia in 2005.

Selected Group Exhibitions: “Ficcions (de)construidas/(de)constructed fictions”, propuestas desde Chipre y Espana, Museo Centro de Arte Tomay y Valiente in Madrid in 2008; “D/ou viens-tu?/Where do you come from?” Europ' Art, Fondation pour les Arts Visuels in Geneva in 2007; 2nd Beijing International Biennale in 2005; Kereva Art Museum/Young Cypriot women Artists in Kereva in 2004 and 22nd Biennale of Alexandria, Museum of Fine arts Alexandria in Egypt in 2003. Public Art Commission: “Sense of place/Contemporary Aphrodites”, Paphos International Airport in 2008.
