Description

Amphiktio Theater, a Cypriot theater company will present Cyclops by Euripides, a play that apart from its intrinsic merits, possesses an extra-ordinary interest for the modern audience, as the sole remaining specimen of the satiric drama. It brings us into living contact with ancient customs and with modes of religious worship which have long since passed away. We seem, for the moment, to catch the real spirit of the old Dionysiac worship, with its mixture of fancy, and passion, and riotous indecency.

Directed by the famous Cypriot Nicos Charalambous and interpreted by his inspired team Cyclops will open the Festival under the starry night at the Curium Ancient Theater on the 1st of July.

Within the framework of the 15th International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama.

With English and Greek surtitles.
