Description

The Baltic Guitar Quartet is the leading guitar ensemble in the Baltic countries. Formed in 2003 the quartet involves young Lithuanian musicians, winners of various competitions and active as soloists in Lithuania and abroad. In 2008 a Belgian guitarist Chris Ruebens joined the ensemble. Their playing is marked by sensitiveness, colorful and congenial ensemble-playing and shows subtle unpretentious musicianship. They have attended master classes with worldwide known musicians and ensembles like: Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Oscar Ghiglia, Pepe Romero, Roland Dyens, David Russel, etc. Their repertoire includes a wide range from Renaissance to contemporary music. Also there own arrangements ranging from Bach, Rossini & De Falla to Balkan music and Metallica. The BGQ made its international debut in May 2006 in Estonia and since then was invited to play in various festivals in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Japan, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Berlin.
