Description

A series of kites made of aluminum are the latest creations of the artist Doros Irakleous that will be exhibited at the Morfi Gallery in Limassol.

Doros Irakleous was born in Nicosia (Cyprus) in 1953 and works in his studio in Kaimakli in the old city of Nicosia. Irakleous has held fifteen solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad. His artworks can be found in many private collections, in the Cyprus National Gallery and in various Cypriot municipalities.

Irakleous is a non-conventional artist, whose innovative work can always be distinguished through his complex aluminium craftsmanship. In his work he exceeds limits and rules as he seeks to experiment continuously with different materials not only aluminium which is his favorite, but also old objects bearing the weight of time. He strives to exhaust all possibilities for aesthetic utilization and artistic expression that can be derived from each material. This dynamic relationship between the artist and his material is precisely what makes Irakleous’ art so intricate and inspiring.
