Cossack means a free person and the name of the group is based on the way of life of people that lived along the Volga River and can trace their roots to the 15th century.

Petja Houdjakov, is an important musician and maestro specialising in the accordion established the "Bolshoi Don Cossacks" , a large group with great soloists of song and dance that has been particularly popular especially in Europe.

Their great artistic power is based on the homogeneity of the voices extremely powerful when required, as well as on the contrast in the interpretation and creativity.
