Some 29 members of the Duchy of Cornwall Opera Company chorus together with guest soloists Louise Merrifield, Shirley Tyack and Steven Phillips will be travelling to Cyprus in April 2010 to put on three concerts to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund, the Soldiers’ Charity. The eclectic programme caters for a wide range of musical tastes. It will include selections from light opera and modern musicals as well as popular songs.

The Duchy Opera are reputedly one of the UK’s finest regional, semi-professional opera companies. They are renowned for presenting opera productions of the highest standard, whilst fostering education about the art form and encouraging its growth and interest from a wider audience.

Evening performances will take place at the Markideon Theatre in Paphos on 9 April at 19.30 and in the Pissouri Amphitheatre on 10 April at 18.00. A special matinee performance will take place at the Altantica Bay Hotel, Limassol on 12 April at 14.30. This will be preceded from 12.30 to 1400 by an extra value 5 course buffet lunch for those who wish to take up the special offer of a combined lunch and performance ticket for only €20, if pre-booked, or €25 on the day (subject to any unsold places). The menu includes: soup, salad, main meal, desert and cheese board.
