Description
Theatro Technis, London, will be visiting Cyprus in May this year to perform its Cyprus Trilogy at Theatro Ena in Nicosia and Limassol. Cyprus Trilogy encapsulates three plays, Stella’s Letter, Educating Venus and Rosetta’s Passion, written and directed by George Eugeniou, raising questions that are relevant to what is happening in Cyprus today.
George Eugeniou’s CYPRUS TRILOGY is about Justice, Thia Dike, on which Sophocles, the ancient Greek dramatist , built his great plays such as Antigone.. Right is Might versus Might is Right. Nobody is above the International Law or any Law for that matter. Turkey had 44 years ago invaded and occupied 37% of the Republic of Cyprus. Ethnic cleansing, raping, killing, bringing Turkish settlers from Anatolia and Turkish Cypriots from the South to the North of the island to occupy Greek Cypriot homes, villages and towns. This is a crime against humanity which Turkey calls ‘Peace Operation’ and the Might of the World had turned a blind eye. Apartheid, partition and segregation is thought to have been wiped out from the face of the earth years ago. And yet we see its ugly face in Turkey who since 1974 have been aiming to legalise its invasion and occupation of one third of the Republic of Cyprus by a BBF solution of two mini-states under the auspices of the might of the world. We hope that the Cyprus Trilogy, Stella’s letter, Educating Venus and Rosetta’s Passion, will be a catalytic eye opener for the International Community, and especially the multi-communal Cypriot Community whose future is at stake.
