Description
EYOLF MACHINE is an autobiographical monologue of the most famous Ibsen’s hero, written in 14 scenes and an erratic swapping of small and capital letters. It is an automatic and personal reading of Ibsen’s Little Eyolf and researches the concept of family in modern times. It is a personal psychoanalysis of the hero, who goes back to his family’s history and its well-hidden secrets. It focuses, from the perspective of a young boy, on the parents’ love and defines it as violence from the dominant against the subordinate.
At its first staging, Elias Adam, Styliana Ioannou and Panos Malaktos experiment with a personal and at the same time participatory theater. In this context, they will first facilitate an open theater workshop with youngsters 12-15 years old in Limassol. Consequently, they will perform the play in an exhausting show which provokes the audience to integrate in this violent tale of growing up. An open free discussion with the audience on the thematic of family and love will hopefully raise burning questions and create a new understanding on the topics.
