Description

Join the Global Education Unit of Future Worlds Center NGO for the last screening of our autumn series with the film « Dukale’s Dream » (2014) by Josh Rothstein, on Monday 11th of December, 20.00, at Ayioi Omoloyites Cultural Workshop (Πολιτιστικό Εργαστήρι Αγίων Ομολογητών).

In 2009, actors Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, traveled to Ethiopia as ambassadors for World Vision Australia, one of the world's largest humanitarian aid organizations. As longtime donors, the Jackmans wanted to visit a World Vision community development project to see how rural communities were being empowered to eradicate poverty. Hugh spent an entire day in the fields with a coffee grower named Dukale who is working hard to lift his family out of poverty. Spending time on Dukale's farm, Hugh learned about the value of fair trade coffee. He came to understand that something as simple as a cup of coffee had the potential to reduce global poverty through the choices consumers made in the United States.

This screening is part of our autumn series of screenings that we organise in the framework of our programme Map Your Meal and our awareness-raising campaign about the origins of our food, their individual components, and their socio-economic and environmental impact, as well as the need for more sustainable food systems.

Duration: 70 mins.

The screenings will be followed by discussion and a cocktail (and good coffee!).
