Description

The theater performance «To Skasimon, an acoustic narration», by actress Elena Agathokleous and musician Dimitris Spyrou-Acapella Solo Loop, is staged like a concert and is about the adventure of a roaming soul. Based on two masterpieces of Greek classical literature, “The Murderess” by Alexandros Papadiamantis and “Ascesis: The Saviors of God” by Nikos Kazantzakis, the performance creates a new narration for the agony of existence, be in love is not the answer, the fear of remembering, the right of choice.

The text “The Murderess” reveals the lost or the oppressed female desire, the lack of choice. Grandmother Fragogiannou tries violently to change the fate of the women by killing little girls, believing that is saving them. In the same time, she has already raised sons that cause suffers. Circles of blood and gender, in repetition. And the abuser is becoming one with the victim. The fragments from “Ascesis” bring the words for the path of personal debt, as a necessity of existence.

“…when we started working on these wonderful poetic texts, looking for their ‘sounds’, immediately we decided to try a new performing form for us, the Acoustic Narration. We still continue developing our material in order to ‘safe this soul’ especially with experimenting and breaking conventions which we used to know…’’ - Agathokleous and D. Spyrou

The performance “To Skasimon” was first introduced in 2015 and has since appeared in and outside Cyprus in festivals and other venues. This new cycle of performances takes place in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre in Limassol and the Space in Nicosia.

There will be English supertitle.
