Description
“Naϊf art is a pure form of expression that comes out directly from the soul. The genuine naοf artist, at the initial stages of his artistic career, does not consider himself an artist. On a good day because of a moving experience composes a song, paints a picture, carves a piece of wood.. His ambition is not to create art, but to express what is in his heart. Art that satisfies such a need is of a high quality. When somebody registers feeling in any form, this form is fine art”.
The above comments of Stas Paraskos absolutely match with the naοf work of Yiannis Pelekanos presents his one-man exhibition at the Kypriaki Gonia Gallery in Larnaca.
The artist says the following about his work: “Some use words to create literature, some others write verses and create poetry, or notes and create music, I paint and write with this instrument the history of my place, the traditions, the customs and its beauties”.
Yiannis Pelekanos tries to transfer us to the past. His goal is to make live forever what is gradually vanishing. Genuine chromatic colours, his instincts and the sense of movement characterized his art. He is spontaneous and sincere like every “naοve”
Born in Assia 1937. He started painting in 1958. Has shown his work in 31 one-man exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions.
