Description
Between 21 and 24 of January, an international program “Cyprus in Action – Youth Music Encounters” will take place in Limassol, Cyprus. It is a four-day multilevel seminar for Youth in Music, organized by Jeunesses Musicales Cyprus in collaboration with Epilogi Cultural Movement of Limassol and a number of local partners including Jeunesses Musicales Greece, Jeunesses Musicales Turkey, Music Society of Cyprus University of Technology and Turkish Cypriot organization “Tango Cyprus”. The program aims to create a platform for cultural cooperation between young people of Cyprus, Greece and Turkey, though networking and know-how exchange among young cultural organizers and musicians, but also among various NGO working in youth cultural field.
The youth delegations from Turkey and Greece are each comprised of 15 young cultural organizers and musicians, who will meet with over 40 Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot peers. They will have the opportunity to participate in lectures, musical workshops, showcases, concerts etc. In addition to lecturers and workshop leaders from Cyprus, Greece and Turkey, a number of experts will be present from Belgium, Norway, Serbia, Israel, Canada and South Africa.
The key event will be a public concert featuring youth choirs and orchestras, and culminating in a performance by “Ethno Cyprus” workshop participants – these 30 young traditional musicians from both Cypriot Communities, Greece and Turkey will perform together for the first time a program developed collaboratively over the course of the Cyprus in Action workshops. It will happen on 23 of January in Evagoras Lanitis Centre (Carob Mill) of Limassol. The concert is starting on 8pm and is open for public.
