The Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture in collboration with the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela are organizing a concert with Christmas melodies from Venezuela as well as the rest of the world.

The concert will be held on the 18th of December 2016 at the Pallas Theater in Nicosia, at 20:30. The guests will have the chance to enjoy pieces interpreted by a string chamber ensemble formed especially for this occasion, under the baton of the Venezuelan conductor Gerardo Estrada Martinez.

The conductor Gerardo Estrada was born in Caracas, and started his musical journey by playing the violin. Afterwards, he finished his musical studies in Venezuela and created the Bolivarian Symphony Orchestra in the state of Carabobo. He has also created an international career, collaborating with world famous soloists and conducting the biggest orchestras of hiscounty.

As a composer Gerardo Estrada has an extensive catalogue of works which includes symphonic, chamber, sacred works, especially "Rapsodia Bicentenaria" should be noted. The premiere of this work took place in Minsk on April 19, 2010, and further it was performed on various stages, both in Venezuela and outside it. In 2015 he was the winner of the prize Batuta de Oro.

The concert will be under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Kostas Kadis.
