Nicosia Tourism Board organizes the first medieval festival in Nicosia, aiming to reveal and promote the city’s rich medieval past and culture. The festival lasts three days, between 7th and 9th of October 2016 and it includes several events.

On Friday, 7th October, Dr Rita Severis will take us around medieval Nicosia to discover Nicosia’s hidden treasures and beauties and at the end of our walking tour, the Curator of the Leventis Municipal Museum, Mrs Elena Poyiatzi –Richter will show us around the medieval exhibits of the museum. The tours will finish with a glass of commandaria at the Museum’s courtyard.

On Saturday, the distinguished Professor Peter Edbury will talk at the conference “Nicosia: the Gothic Capital of Cyprus” which will take place at Kasteliotissa Hall, a beautiful medieval building in the capital. Other renowned academics will also share with us their views of Medieval Nicosia. In the evening we invite you to enjoy an exquisite banquet inspired by the medieval cuisine with the company of the Commandaria Orchestra at the CVAR’s roof garden which has the most wonderful view of medieval Nicosia.

On Sunday, join us for the Fikardo’s feud tour, a guided bus and walk about tour of Fikardou village, an old settlement that has retained its traditional medieval characteristics.
