There’s something about Spanish and Latin American rhythms that capture the imagination and make one want to move along with them, and that’s exactly the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s goal in its first concert of the current quarter. Be it the gently swaying Habanera by French composer Emmanuel Chabrier, Astor Piazzolla’s more intense Tango Suite and Alberto Williams’ Primera suite Argentina, or even Manuel de Falla’s caustically satirical Three-cornered hat and the passionate Ritual Fire Dance from Love the Magician, all lend themselves to an evening of fiery enjoyment and blazing orchestral fun.
