Environment and Sustainability Series of Lectures

The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation cordially invites you to the 7th lecture entitled "Blue Growth and the Coast" (The lecture will be delivered in Greek)

Cyprus is an island country. Sea is our life. Our coasts are one of the most vital natural resources of the island. A natural resource, however, which under danger: it is threatened from overdevelopment and of aggressive human activities. The result is the “shrinking”, the erosion and degradation of our coastal areas.

And while this is happening to the Cyprus coasts, Blue Economy and Growth form a powerful perspective for Europe. Specific targets, smart and flexible structures, action plans, integrated planning, monitoring, evaluation and brave political decisions and support are the main characteristics for the promotion of Blue Growth. This is a challenge we should win.

Within a framework of sustainability, coastal zone forms the major pillar for Blue Growth.
