Art-song and Piano Recital

After the successful concert with Fr. Schubert’s song cycle Die Schöne Müllerin in May 2010, German tenor Christian Zenker returns to Cyprus for another unique concert with pianist Nicolas Costantinou at Pallas Theatre in Nicosia. The recital features Beethoven’s To the Distant Beloved and Schumann’s The Poet’s Love, both dealing with the idea of unfulfilled love. Beethoven’s Sonata no. 26 in E flat major, best known with its French name ‘Les Adieux’ that completes the programme has been inspired by the departure from Vienna of his patron Archduke Rudolph in anticipation of the French invasion of the city.
