Description

The Chamber Music Concert series with musicians of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra organized for the past five years in Nicosia with great success, is extended as from 2015 to include other cities as well.

The first programme this year will be given in Nicosia and Limassol by a Trio with clarinet, viola and piano made up of CySO musicians Dusko Zarkovic (clarinet), Krzysztof Wrobel (viola) and guest pianist Elena Mitella-Violari. The ensemble will interpret Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Trio for clarinet, viola and piano in E-flat major, K. 498 followed and beautifully balanced by Max Bruch’s Eight pieces for clarinet, viola and piano, op. 83.

Mozart was the first to combine these specific instruments in a trio resulting in a work which flows with inspiration and beauty of melody and form. The special timbres of the clarinet and the viola give the music an especially intimate and gentle character. Bruch’s magnificent composition is in essence a set of character pieces abounding with strong emotions: gloom, rhapsodic exaltation, restlessness and agitation, ardour and introverted lyricism.
