Description

John Ford’s The Lover’s Melancholy, the Elisabethan playwright’s first published work, was written in 1628. Conceived as a romantic tragicomedy, it is set entirely in Famagusta and describes the melancholy state of Palador, Prince of Cyprus, whose beloved Eroclea, exiled for a long time, has now returned to her native land, disguised as a young man.

This staged reading is based on select scenes from the play, translated into Greek by Vayos Liapis and directed by Avra Sidiropoulou. This is a world premiere of the play.
