Description
We are pleased to announce, both the release of our website and the Official Open Call for participation in the 1st workshop for Mobile Architecture entitled, “Urban ‘Generators’ Mobile Units of Culture”, that will take place in Pafos CY in September 8-19 2014.
What is mobile architecture? How can we use our creativity to explore new solutions for our urban environment? What issues should be taken into account for the design, construction and use of mobile and ephemeral architecture? Where can we deploy/exhibit these structures in public? These are some of the questions that we are going to explore during the workshop through a collaborative process that will translate into architectural urban interventions.
The workshop aims to explore, design and construct mobile and flexible units of various programmatic activities, of a social, recreational and above all cultural character which will highlight the historical and cultural part of the city.
The workshop is open to young people under 35 yrs. from all over Cyprus and abroad. We encourage, architecture students, young architects and engineers, as well as different disciplines such as landscape architects, artists, designers and in general people who are interested in architecture, cities and urban design, to apply.
The workshop will be held under the supervision of architects: Chryso Onisiforou and Charis Petrou [xx-a]. The activity will take place in Pafos – CY, 8-19 September. During the workshop, a series of activities will take place, such as open lectures, discussions with various guests and visits to the city, in-order to enrich and support the overall process and design development.
A complete construction, of at least one mobile unit, will be presented in a final closing event-exhibition, along with the results of the workshop.

All the Best everyone! See you in Pafos CY in September!
