The Zilla Project is a four-piece band playing its own version of the blues with many allusions to all styles of American music. In the last five years, they have emerged as the leading blues band in Cyprus, haing performed in every corner of the island, from major Festivals to small venues and bars, building a strong and devoted fan base. The Zilla Project combine cover versions of classic blues and rock pieces with their original compositions in an energetic and supercharged two-hour set. With Manolis “Big Mo” Vourakis on the vocals and electric guitars, Nikolas “Honeyman” Melis on the keyboard, Omiros “Bagman” Andreou on the electric bass, and Stefanos “Medicine Man” Meletiou on the drums, they manage to create a remarkable atmosphere with a distinct American flavour. The band is about to release their first album recorded and produced in Cyprus, which will feature nine original compositions and two cover versions of well-known pieces. Their appearance at the Axiothea Mansion marks the beginning of a new stage in their development, now as recording artists presenting mainly their own original material.
