Description

The Center of Cypriot Composers would like to inform you of its 2nd Festival of Contemporary Music in collaboration with the ARTos Foundation. The Festival will begin on Monday 9th of December and conclude on Saturday 14th of December 2013 at the ARTos Foundation.

The Festival will feature the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) in two concerts on Wednesday 11th and Friday 13th of December 2013 at 20:30 playing premieres of Cypriot composers such as V. Nicolaou, G. Stavrou, T. Stylianou, A. Moustouki as well as other works from composers of the 20th and 21st centuries such as A. Schnittke, S. Gubaidulina, A. Part and others.

In addition, the Cyprus Trio will perform on Saturday 14th of December 2013 and at 20:30 D. Shostakovich's first Piano Trio and A. Ioannide's Piano Trio.
A selected ensemble from the youth orchestra will open the Festival on Monday 9th of December 2013 and at 19:30, performing new premiers by Cypriot composers specially written for the ensemble.

Furthermore, the Cypriot pianist Drosostalida Moraiti and flutist Dimitris Yiasemides will perform on Tuesday 10th of December 2013 and at 19:30 presenting works from the contemporary repertoire.

On Thursday 12th December 2013 Michael Bachhofer (Austria) will present his installation entitled “The Pattern which connects” and sound performance in collaboration with Tomash Ghzegovskyy.

Finally, during the festival the Center will present lectures and films about contemporary music by Igor Masincov (President of the Russian composers in the city of Perm), Dr H. Sophokleous, Dr T. Stylianou and Mr V. Kouretzis from Greece.
