Description

Amidst the personal quest, the feverish effort to free himself from the agony of expression, and the allegiance to the uninterrupted musical tradition of his land, Psarantonis struggles and finds his way with the instinct of the true artist. He collects brilliant lyrics (rizitika, traditional and present-day mantinades), he charges them with his own expressive means, and with his match less power of improvisation, he manages to create an atmosphere of awe, agitation and trepidation, just like the great musicians of Jazz.

This year, Psarantonis returns to the Axiothea Mansion to take us to a musical journey into his oeuvre, with traditional and contemporary songs, as well as rebetiko compositions and demotic songs of Cyprus. He will be joined on stage by Niki Xilouri with the unique timbre of her deep and soulful voice, and the sensitivity with which she plays the percussions, Giorgis and Lambis Xylouris with their profound knowledge of the fine art of the lute and the oud, and the virtuoso lute player Nektarios Kontoyannis.
