Description

The NAVA Band, named after the Persian word for sound, melody, which also denotes one of the dastgâh, the basic music scales in traditional Persian music, was founded in 2010 by the Iranian musicians Navid Gholipour and Hani Rusta, and the Cypriot artist Alkis Agathokleous. The members of the band seek to create a music atmosphere based on traditional melodies and contemporary ethnic compositions in which analog or electronic sounds are combined with the natural sound of musical instruments.

This co-existence of different music traditions in a common acoustic environment is particularly interesting, as it opens up to different interpretations depending on the personal music influences of each one of us. The multicultural nature of the band further contributes to this idea.
